Police are probing a shooting in the west end that sent a 36-year-old man to hospital after a cab was riddled with bullets on Monday evening.

Police were called to the scene near Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue where they found a victim who had been shot several times through a taxi's window.

The man was hit in the head, back, and hands as he tried to duck the bullets. He is recovering in hospital. The driver was not injured.

Investigators say the victim was being chased by several other men at about 8 p.m. He jumped into a cab to get away but his attackers followed.

Officers are going through surveillance video from a camera that was installed in the area after a murder last summer.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
