Toronto Mayor David Miller, currently on vacation in Vancouver, says his first priority after returning to the city will be the displaced residents.

Speaking during a teleconference call from British Columbia, Miller says the fire at the destroyed propane facility is under control at the moment.

"However, because it's a propane facility, there remains the danger of further explosion," says Miller.

The mayor also says his thoughts and prayers are with the family of the firefighter who has been pronounced dead.

But during the phone call, an official from the Mayor's Office contradicted reports from 32 Division Police saying Yorkdale Mall has been evacuated.

Calls made by cp24.com to stores at Yorkdale Mall went unanswered.

Miller also says there will be a "thorough review" to determine if any regulations covering propane facilities were not followed in this case. He says propane facilities are a provincial responsibility.
