After leading a campaign to cut the city's budget, Mayor Rob Ford's waistline is the next thing he's looking to trim.

According to his brother, Ford is about to embark on a weight loss crusade to slim down and improve his health, and to raise money for local charity.

City Coun. Doug Ford told radio station Newstalk 1010 on Tuesday that he and the mayor, who once described himself as "300 pounds of fun," will begin the weight-loss campaign next week.

The brothers Ford plan to hold public weigh-ins as a way to motivate themselves to shed pounds.

Ford's predecessor, David Miller, lost 50 pounds while he was in office.
