ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. - Ontario's Ministry of Labour is finished collecting evidence at Elliot Lake's Algo Centre Mall.

Control of the site has now been turned over to the property's owner, Eastwood Mall Inc., which is required to develop a plan to stabilize the building, as well as the insurance carrier, Zurich Insurance Group Inc.

The plan will be approved by the ministry before the owner can gain access to the mall itself.

Ontario Provincial Police investigators finished their examination of the rubble at the mall Wednesday, clearing the way for a public inquiry to be held in January.

The ministry's investigation continues, and access to the mall remains barred to the public.

The roof of the Algo Centre partially collapsed June 23, leaving two women dead.
