TRENTON, Ont. - The body of the latest Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan has returned home.

A plane carrying the casket of Trooper Larry Rudd landed at CFB Trenton, in eastern Ontario, this afternoon.

His body will be taken along the Highway of Heroes to the coroner's office in Toronto.

Rudd died Monday when a roadside bomb exploded about 20 kilometres southwest of Kandahar City.

The 26-year-old native of Brantford, Ont., was the 146th member of the Canadian military to die during the Afghan mission, and the fourth this month.

His death came less than a week after Col. Geoff Parker was killed in a suicide car bombing in Kabul.
