Toronto City Council has passed a motion 33 to 8 that would place bicycle sharing stations throughout the downtown core.
Operated by BIXI Toronto, the first launch of the program will include 1,000 bikes which users pay a fee to use and can return to any of the 80 stations.
The bike share program is modeled after a popular system in Montreal and other major cities around the world such as Paris and Amsterdam.
