Students at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Elementary School in Mississauga are getting an extra long weekend following a late-night fire.

Education officials say classes are cancelled Friday and Monday because of a small fire that occurred in a classroom Thursday night.

Officials want to test the building's air quality to make sure it is safe for students and staff. The school's principal says classes will likely resume Tuesday.

Parents are being asked to check with the school, located at 3345 Escada Dr., and visit the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board's website for the latest information.

The fire's cause is under investigation.
