The Crown rested its case on Thursday in the trial of a girl accused of pressuring her boyfriend into murdering a 14-year-old girl, Stefanie Rengel.

Prosecutors have called 16 witnesses to the stand in the trial stemming from the murder of the teen on New Year's Day in 2008. The Crown alleges the murder was a case of "obsessive" jealousy.

Rengel was found with several stab wounds in a snow bank in front of her home.

The girl on trial is known only as M.T. since she is under 18. The accused, who was 15 years old at the time of the murder, has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder.

M.T.'s former boyfriend, known as D.B., will be tried separately for allegedly wielding the knife. He is now 19 but was 18 at the time of the incident.

It's now up to defence lawyer Marshall Sack to call a defence on Friday. He can call in evidence - or not.

During the trial, Crown prosecutor Robin Flumerfelt brought forward recovered cell phone, text message and online chat records between the involved parties.

The jury will have the opportunity to look over cell and MSN Messenger chat records that M.T. and D.B. exchanged.

The trial continues Friday.
