TORONTO - Another former NHL star has accepted the challenge of assembling Canada's entry for the IIHF World Hockey Championship.

Mark Messier was officially introduced as the 2010 team's general manager during a news conference at the Hockey Hall of Fame today.

Messier currently works as a special assistant to New York Rangers president Glen Sather.

Fellow Hall of Famers Steve Yzerman and Wayne Gretzky have built Canadian teams in recent years.

Canada has won back-to-back silver medals at the world championship. It last won gold in 2007.
