David Miller says he may leave politics after he finishes his term as Toronto’s mayor.

During his first live broadcast TV interview since announcing he won’t seek re-election on Friday, Miller says he’s “quite probably” done with politics.

He says, however, he'd like to be involved with public interest issues after leaving the mayor’s office, although he’s not sure how.

The mayor reiterated his desire to spend more time with his family after several years in politics.

But Miller says he’s achieved what he set out to do, lauding the transit improvements that are in the works.

“I fought for public transit,” he says. “We have the most ambitious public transit expansion plan in North America, Transit City. “

“That’s what I’m about. I’m not about running for my own ego.”
