WALKERTON, Ont. - Homeowners are surveying flood damage, power is out and some roads are blocked in parts of Ontario today after severe thunderstorms rolled through Saturday.

Thousands of people remain without electricity after the intense storms, packing winds of 80 to 100 kilometres an hour, knocked down power lines.

At one point, tens of thousands of customers were without power.

In Bruce County, several homes were flooded and some residents say they spotted water spouts and funnel clouds.

But Environment Canada has not confirmed whether a tornado touched down Saturday morning.

Police report downed trees, hydro poles and hydro lines in north Bruce and near the town of Paisley and say some roads are blocked by debris so motorists should slow down.

Some barns in the Chesley area were destroyed during the storms.

Hydro One says power remains out for about 1,000 customers in Walkerton, 850 customers in the Woodstock area and 670 customers near Owen Sound.

Hydro One spokeswoman Daniele Gauvin says it could take until 11 p.m. to get everyone back on line.
