Ashleigh Pechaluk, 24, has been found not guilty of first-degree murder in a Toronto man' s October 2006 death.

Dennis Hoy, 36, was allegedly killed with an axe while sleeping in an Etobicoke apartment he shared with his girlfriend, who was also seeing Pechaluk at the time.

The victim, a GO Transit officer, was found face-down on a bed, bludgeoned to death.

The Crown had alleged Pechaluk conspired to kill him with her 36-year-old female lover because he was getting in the way of their relationship.

Late Thursday afternoon, a jury acquitted Pechaluk of murder after hearing seven weeks of testimony.

Pechaluk's girlfriend, Nicola Puddicombe, was also charged with first-degree murder. Her trial is scheduled to start next week.
