Infant girl nearly drowns in Milton

A two-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after she nearly drowned in a Milton pool this afternoon.

The incident happened at about 2:50 p.m. in the Woodward Avenue and Thompson Road area.

A family member pulled the girl from the pool.

Taxi robbery suspect arrested

Police arrested a suspect Tuesday morning in connection with several taxi robberies that have occurred in east-end Toronto.

Investigators say a man had been flagging down taxis in the Pape Avenue and Dundas Street East area. Each time, the suspect allegedly grabbed the victims and demanded money.

Authorities believe there may be more victims.

Ellesmere blocked at McCowan

Traffic on eastbound Ellesmere Road is blocked at McCowan Road following a multi-vehicle crash at 10:50 a.m.

Eastbound vehicles are being diverted onto Saratoga Drive.

Traffic on southbound McCowan is also being affected by the collison, which involved about four vehicles.

Police are asking people to avoid the area.

One person was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Motorcyclist injured in crash

A 42-year-old motorcyclist is being treated for injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in the city's east end on Tuesday morning.

The collision occurred at Danforth Road and Magnolia Avenue at about 10:20 a.m.

Police said the man was conscious and breathing. He suffered an injury to his leg.

Paramedics transported the man to hospital by ambulance.

Police said the vehicle's driver, a 77-year-old woman, wasn't injured.

Male stabbed at Kennedy Station

One person was taken to hospital after being stabbed at Kennedy Station on Tuesday morning.

Toronto police described the male victim's injuries as "minor in nature."

The incident occurred shortly before 6:15 a.m.

Police are looking for suspects.

TTC officials said public transit service wasn't impacted by the incident.

Kennedy Station is located at Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East.

Tractor-trailer fire under investigation

Toronto police are investigating a tractor-trailer fire to determine if it was deliberately set.

The fire occurred on Deerhide Crescent, near Finch Avenue West and Highway 400, late Monday night.

Police said the vehicle was destroyed, resulting in a damage estimate of $200,000.

No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made.

It's believed the tractor-trailer was parked and unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

Man charged with stealing phone

A Toronto man has been charged with stealing a cell phone in the Entertainment District over the weekend.

A woman told police she lost her cellphone Friday night. She tried calling it but no one answered. A couple of days later, the woman thought she'd try again. This time a man answered the phone.

The man allegedly told the woman he would return the phone for cash.

The woman agreed and they both made arrangements to meet on Lansdowne Avenue. The woman then contacted police with the information.

When the suspect arrived at the location, undercover officers arrested him.

Nelson Nobre, 24, has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 30, 2011.
