Toronto police are investigating an attempted robbery that happened overnight at the Yorkdale subway station.

The incident happened just before 2 a.m. when three men believed to be in their twenties approached the collector's booth. One of them was armed with a shotgun.

After the collector refused to hand over money, the suspects fled by car.

Police are trying to determine if the robbery at Yorkdale is related to the one that happened early yesterday at the Lawrence West subway station.

A man reportedly armed with a sawed-off shotgun held up a ticket collector.

Police say the suspect got some cash and took off, leaving a silver scooter behind at the front door of the station. The TTC booth attendant was not hurt.

Police are asking witnesses to call police at (416) 808-3200 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
