A date in mid-May has been selected for a sentencing hearing for the 17-year-old girl convicted in the murder of Stephanie Rengel.

Psychiatrists are currently preparing reports on the girl's mental state, which will be presented at a sentencing hearing on May 13.

Justice Ian Nordheimer consented to the crown's request for the psychiatric review on Tuesday, the first day of sentencing.

The crown is seeking to have the girl, who can only be identified as M.T., sentenced as an adult.

Court heard M.T. pressured her boyfriend to murder 14-year-old Rengel. The boyfriend faces a separate first degree murder trial in the fall.
