With the May 2 election approaching, the Conservatives have increased their lead over the Liberals to 13 points, according to the latest Nanos Research daily tracking poll.

Conducted exclusively for CP24, CTV and the Globe and Mail, the Tories have the support of 39 per cent of Canadians.

The Liberals are in second with 26.7 per cent as the NDP continue to make gains in the wake of this month's leaders' debates.

The NDP are closing the gap between second and third place with 22.1 per cent of support. The Bloc Quebecois remain in fourth with 7.5 per cent, while the Green Party has the support of 3.4 per cent of Canadians.

Of the 1,015 people who were surveyed between Monday and Wednesday, 15 per cent are still undecided.

The poll is considered accurate to within 3.1 per cent, 19 times out of 20.

Layton live on CP24

NDP leader Jack Layton returns to Toronto on Thursday and he is making a stop in the CP24 newsroom.

Layton will be a guest on LeDrew Live with host Stephen LeDrew at 9 p.m.

Before that, he will be attending a campaign event at the Axis Gallery and Grill at 11:30 a.m. before heading to a rally in Brampton at the Shingar Banquet Hall at 6:30 p.m.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper continues his tour of Atlantic Canada, making stops with local candidates in St. John's, N.L., and Sydney, N.S.

His chief rival, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff, is in Montreal, where he will be participating in a roundtable discussion and a live Facebook chat.

Bloc Quebecois leader Gilles Duceppe is campaigning in Quebec, while Green Party leader Elizabeth May continues to target ridings in B.C.
