Ontario wants a better deal on immigration from the federal government.
Premier Dalton McGuinty says the federal government's immigration policies are tilted in favour of Manitoba, B.C. and Quebec.
He says each of those provinces has more control over immigration than Ontario, which, for example, wants more economic class immigrants and fewer family class newcomers.
McGuinty says Ottawa can't justify having one set of rules for immigrants in some parts of Canada and another set of rules for Ontario.
However, the Opposition says McGuinty is picking a phoney war with the federal government to distract people from soaring electricity prices and the HST.
The New Democrats say McGuinty is picking on Ottawa now but was "buddy buddy" with the federal government when it came to introducing the HST last July.
