Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have cancelled an Amber Alert for a little girl who was reported missing in Barrie, Ont. Tuesday.

Barrie Police said Tuesday night that the girl had last been seen by a family friend at a home in the city at around 5:30 p.m. and issued an appeal to help find her.

Then shortly after midnight, OPP issued an Amber Alert for the girl.

Police later clarified that they did not believe the child had necessarily been abducted and were hoping that she might have been picked up by a family member or friend.

At around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Barrie police announced that the girl had been found safe by Toronto police and was being brought back home to Barrie.

They did not say where in Toronto she was found or who she was with, but called it a “complex and dynamic” situation that is still under investigation.

No charges have been laid in connection with the case so far.
