A 10-year-old boy is expected to make a full recovery after he was struck by a stray bullet that came through the window of his east-end home last night.

It happened on Blake Street, in the area of Jones Avenue and Gerrard Street, shortly after 11:40 p.m.

A 13-year-old girl who identified herself as the boy's cousin said he was sleeping in his mother's room when bullets came through the family's back window and struck him.

"His mom thought he was just screaming because he got scared but... His sister came running down because she wanted to see if everything was fine and then she saw him bleeding," the girl told CP24.

The boy sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was taken to Sick Kids Hospital for treatment, paramedics previously said.

Sgt. Andy Kitchener told CP24 Saturday afternoon that the child is expected to make a full recovery.

"It’s pretty brazen. It is pretty surprising that something like this would happen," Kitchener said.

Investigators are currently reviewing video surveillance footage in the area and are searching for more witnesses.

"At this time we have no suspects," Kitchener added.

"We are going to have police sitting here all weekend. We are asking that anybody that has any information whatsoever, no matter how big or small the information may be, to approach us and let us know."

Kitchener also said that it appears the home was targeted by the shooter or shooters.

"There is no indication to suggest that the people inside have any reason to be targeted but due to the nature of the act, it does appear that the address itself was targeted for one reason or another," he said.

The Toronto Police Service’s major crime unit is investigating.

Later Saturday, Police Chief Mark Saunders toured the scene and met with investigators, but declined to speak with reporters.

This incident is the third shooting in the city over the past 24 hours.

One man was fatally wounded after a shooting in the city’s Emery neighbourhood last night at around 6:30 p.m.

Police say it happened in the parking lot of an apartment building on Weston Road, near Imogene Avenue.

Police are searching for two gunmen.

Just minutes before the deadly shooting in Emery, gunfire broke out in Etobicoke, leaving one man in critical condition.

Police say the man was sitting in a vehicle at a fast-food restaurant in the area of Bloor Street and Aukland Road when he was shot.

The victim, who attempted to drive away from the scene, was found behind the wheel of his vehicle suffering from life-threatening injuries.

A second man was taken to hospital following the incident but his condition is not known at this time.
