A radar-indicated tornado touched down in the community of Wheatley, Ont., Environment Canada confirms.
The weather agency reported just before 5 p.m. Thursday that the Wheatley Provincial Park radar indicated a tornado.
A “red” tornado warning issued earlier in the day for the Ontario regions of Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent has since ended.
However, as of 5:15 p.m., an “orange” severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex.
A “yellow” heat warning is also in effect for the mentioned areas.
This follows a severe storm on Wednesday night, with photos of the damage available in CTV Windsor’s photo galleries section.
Here’s a full look at the forecast for Windsor, Ont., as of 4:50 p.m. Thursday:
- Thursday night: Showers with a few thunderstorms ending this evening, then mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm this evening and overnight. Fog patches developing after midnight. Local amount 15 to 25 mm. Low 20.
