The 111th annual Santa Claus Parade will be shutting down streets in the downtown core on Sunday, making life a little more difficult for drivers trying to get around the city.

Police are also warning drivers to be careful where they park their cars downtown on Sunday.

Starting at 6 a.m. Sunday, Toronto police say they will be towing vehicles that are parked along the parade route.

Road closures will begin at 8 a.m. Bloor Street will be closed from Ossington Avenue to Christie Street at 8 a.m., from Christie to Bathurst at 10 a.m., and from Bathurst Street to Bay Street at 10:45 a.m.

University Avenue, from College Street to Dundas Street, will be closed at 11 a.m. and from Dundas Street to Front Street at 11:15 a.m.

Wellington Street will be closed from University Avenue to Jarvis Street at 11: 30 a.m. and Front Street will be closed from Bay Street to Jarvis Street at 11:45 a.m.

The Holly Jolly 5km Fun Run will take place along the parade route starting at 11:50 a.m. and the parade gets underway at 12:30 p.m.

The parade starts on Bloor Street West at Christie Street and will move eastbound on Bloor Street West before going southbound on Queen’s Park Crescent East, southbound on University Avenue, eastbound on Wellington Street/ Front Street East. The parade will finish on Front Street at Jarvis Street and it expected to run for about 2.5 hours.
