Parents of elementary school students could notice some changes in the classroom beginning next week.

CTV News has learned that the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario has been making robocalls tonight.

On those calls, ETFO president Sam Hammond tells teachers that there will be job action beginning next week.

“All ETFO teacher and occasional teacher members will be engaging in strike action beginning Monday, May 11,” he said.

A confidential bulletin, purportedly sent to union members, was also obtained by CTV News Monday night.

According to the release, effective May 11, “ETFO Toronto teacher and occasional teacher local members shall begin strike action by the withdrawal of administrative services.”

The 12-point bulletin, dated May 4, advises members not to perform a number of responsibilities, including preparing report card comments, undertaking EQAO testing with students, or conducting any reading, writing or mathematics assessments other than those that the teacher deems necessary to report on student progress.

It is not believed that extracurricular activities, school trips or Grade 8 graduations will be impacted by the job action.

It was not immediately clear if the same job action would be undertaken by all school boards.
