Hundreds of hydro customers in the city’s west end could be in the dark overnight as the first major snow storm of the season hits Toronto.

About 1,200 customers in the Lake Shore Boulevard and Park Lawn Road area were left in the dark when a power cable blew out due to the bad weather around 5:30 p.m., Toronto Hydro said.

As of midnight, crews were still working underground to try and fix the problem, but their work was complicated by the snow storm.

Images from the area showed several large condo buildings without any lights on.

Toronto Hydro said the outage was expected to be resolved sometime between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m.
