Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man found with gunshot wounds at the scene of a crash in Etobicoke on Monday.

Officers were first called to Kipling Avenue and Longfield Road on Monday afternoon after a vehicle reportedly left the roadway, struck a fence, and ended up on the lawn of a home in the area.

When paramedics arrived on scene, police said they discovered that the driver had injuries “more consistent with gunshot wounds than a collision."

Police confirmed Thursday that the victim was in fact shot and evidence of gunfire was found at the scene.

The man, who has now been identified by police as 38-year-old Christopher Reid, of Toronto, was rushed to a trauma centre without vital signs and later died in hospital.

Police have not said if investigators have identified the exact location of the shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
