No injuries were reported after a fire broke out at a popular Rexdale restaurant overnight.

Crews were called to Steak Queen, located at 345 Rexdale Boulevard, shortly after 1 a.m. for reports of a fire.

When crews arrived, flames were seen coming from the roof.

Firefighters managed to knock down the blaze shortly after 2 a.m.

The extent of the damage is not clear at this time.

Steak Queen made headlines in 2014 after a video surfaced appearing to show then-mayor Rob Ford inside the restaurant swearing in Jamaican Patois and making a derogatory remark about then-police chief Bill Blair.

Damage to the building is estimated to be more than $500,000, Capt. David Eckerman said. He said they are not sure if the building will be salvageable.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate what caused the blaze.
