York Regional Police continue their ground and air search for a 23-year-old Markham woman missing since Tuesday.

Sandy Luong was last seen walking west on Helen Avenue towards Kennedy Road at around 2:30 p.m.

“It is out of character for Ms. Luong to not be in contact with friends and family for this length of time and police are growing increasingly concerned about her well-being,” investigators said in a release Thursday.

A command post has been set up in the McCowan Road and South Unionville Avenue area.

“We have been actively searching for this young lady for just over 48 hours,” York Regional Police Sgt. John Loughry told CP24 Thursday night.

Officers are currently speaking with friends and family members, as well as looking to social media for possible leads.

“We’re also active in a ground search,” Loughry said.

Officers are paying particular attention to parks, ponds and other locations in the area deemed as “high hazards.”

Luong is described as five-foot-five, 100 pounds, with short black hair with bangs.

She was last seen wearing a long purple winter coat, black skirt, and black boots.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 866-876-5423 ext. 7541 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
