Police have completed an underwater search for a high school teacher who vanished last month without finding any clues pointing to his whereabouts.

Officers from the Toronto Police Service’s marine unit used a robotic camera to conduct an underwater search in Lake Ontario for 52-year-old Jeffrey Boucher Monday morning, but the search ultimately turned up nothing.

The search took place exactly three weeks after the husband and father of two disappeared, apparently after leaving his family’s home in Whitby to go for a run.

There have been no confirmed sightings and police say the water search around a pier off Brock Street was not based on any new leads or information.

Officers attempted to search the lake Jan. 24 but the effort was called off because the ground was slippery and the wind was too strong.

Before that, police did extensive ground and aerial searches for more than a week, but those searches failed to yield any clues.

Durham Regional Police are leading the investigation into Boucher’s mysterious disappearance, but Monday’s search involved officers and a remote-controlled camera from the Toronto Police Service’s marine unit.

Police did not have to enter the frigid water to conduct the search as the robotic camera was controlled by an officer standing on the pier.
