A stretch of Kennedy Road north of Cardwell Ave. remained sealed off Saturday night as Toronto police continued to search the area for evidence following the discovery of what may be human remains.

Police arrived on scene Saturday afternoon after receiving a call about remains found in the area.

A man at the scene told CP24`s Cristina Tenaglia he discovered the remains in a nearby creek around 1 p.m.

"I was walking down the riverbank looking for golf balls," Cameron Janes said. "I came across something that looked like a loaf of ham."

Janes said he became concerned when he saw bones sticking out of the foul-smelling object and then contacted police.

Forensics officers and a coroner were called to the scene, but have still not determined whether the remains are human or animal.

Earlier in the day Peel Regional police said the discovery in Toronto might possibly be related to body parts found in Mississauga earlier this week. They continued to scour Mississauga`s Hewick Meadows Park, where a foot, head and hands were found over the past few days.

They suspended the search Saturday night, but said they planned to resume on Sunday. They also said they were contacted by Toronto police Saturday and are working together to try and determine whether there is a connection between the two discoveries.

The area where the remains were discovered Saturday, located just north of Sheppard Avenue, is expected to stay sealed off tonight and possibly into the morning as police continue their search.
