Firefighters say they’ve controlled a blaze that spread to a residential building on Canyon Avenue in the Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West area.
Firefighters responded to the three-alarm call around 3:45 p.m., sending 16 trucks and 60 firefighters after a blaze in a garbage dumpster outside the building spread to a first floor apartment.
Large plumes of heavy black smoke could be seen billowing up the side of the building in pictures submitted by CP24 viewers.
Firefighters controlled the blaze within half an hour and were working to extract smoke from a stairwell in the building.
All residents were evacuated and no injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
