About 27,000 runners are expected to hit the streets for the Sporting Life 10K on Sunday, resulting in a number of road closures throughout the city.
The race, which raises money for Camp Oochigeas, gets underway at 8 a.m. but some closures will be in effect as of 5 a.m.
Motorists are advised to be aware of the following closures:
- Yonge Street between Lawrence Avenue and Eglinton from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- Yonge Street between Eglinton Avenue and Richmond Street from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Richmond Street between Yonge Street and Peter Street from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Peter Street/Blue Jays Way between Richmond Street and Front Street from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- The westbound lanes of Front Street between Blue Jays Way and Bathurst Street from 8 a.m. t0 11:30 a.m.
- Bathurst Street between Front Street and Fort York Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Fort York Boulevard between Bathurst Street and Fleet Street from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Fort York Boulevard between Fleet Street and Lake Shore Boulevard from 5 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Bathurst Street between Fort York Boulevard and Fleet Street from 5 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- The eastbound lanes of Fleet Street between Strachan Avenue and Fort York Boulevard from 5 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The closures will be lifted once all runners leave the area, the city says.
