Jerry Bance, the Conservative candidate for the riding of Scarborough—Rouge Park, is no longer running for office, after he was once filmed by a consumer protection television program urinating in a coffee mug while on a call in his day job as a home repair technician.
The CBC’s television program Marketplace filmed a program in 2012 where home repair workers responded to a home where they had installed hidden cameras.
In the video, Bance can be seen urinating in a coffee mug inside a home while on a service call, and then tossing the contents of the mug in a sink.
On Sunday, a Conservative Party spokesperson says Bance regrets his behaviour in the footage. On Monday, a spokesperson said Bance was no longer the party's candidate for Scarborough-Rouge Park.
He has run for the Conservatives twice before, in 2006 and 2008, in the riding of Scarborough—Rouge River, placing second each time. Bance is listed online as the key contact for Xpress Appliance Service, based in Newmarket.
