Two men are dead after a Dodge Neon collided with a Honda Accord in the northbound lanes of Highway 404 in Aurora early Saturday.

Shortly before 6 a.m. a Neon driven by a 25-year-old man from Markham was travelling south in the northbound lanes when it collided with an Accord driven by a 57-year old Unionville man, OPP said.

Both drivers were killed in the collision.

It was not immediately clear why the Neon was in the wrong lanes. Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the collision.

Police are trying to determine which roads the drivers entered the highway from and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The northbound lanes of Highway 404 were closed for several hours between Aurora Rd. and Mulock Dr. following the collision.
