Two people have been charged in connection with two carjackings in Brampton Thursday, including one that saw a home broken into and residents threatened with a gun.

The first incident happened around 2:20 a.m. in the area of Goreway Drive and Castlemore Road. Three suspects allegedly forced their way into a home and, when they were inside, pointed a gun at residents while demanding car keys.

Police said the residents complied and handed the keys to the suspects, who then fled using the Mercedes Benz sedans they stole.

The second incident happened a few hours later at around 5 p.m. in a plaza near Airport Road and Queen Street East. A person was parked in the area when he was approached by three men allegedly armed with a handgun.

Police said the suspects then forced the victim out of his vehicle, a 2017 Rolls Ryce, and used it to drive away. No physical injuries were reported in either incident, police said.

Shortly after, members of the Central Robbery Bureau, 21 Divisional Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Toronto Police Service found one of the stolen vehicles in Toronto and apprehended two people.

During the arrest, a loaded firearm was recovered, police said.

On Friday, they identified the two suspects as 18-year-old Arian Khorassani and a 17-year-old whose name cannot be released under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Khorassani is facing 10 charges, including two counts of robbery with a firearm and two counts of wearing a disguise with intent. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old has been charged with 12 offences, which include two counts of robbery with a firearm, two counts of wearing a disguise with intent and two counts of failure to comply with sentence or disposition.

Police continue to ask anyone with information to contact them at (905)453-2121 ext. 3410 or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or peelcrimestoppers.ca.
