Air Canada says it is investigating after a video emerged showing luggage being tossed at Pearson airport.

The video, shot by passenger Dwayne Stewart, was recorded Thursday afternoon.

According to Stewart, the flight he was on from Toronto to Vancouver was full, and there wasn’t adequate room onboard the plane for carry-on luggage.

The video - which shows passengers' luggage being tossed from the top of a set of stairs into a bin below - was recorded as carry-on luggage was being transferred to the plane’s cargo hold.

“We were quite amazed to watch that happen in front of us,” Stewart said of the video.

In a statement released Friday, Air Canada said it was “extremely disappointed” by the video.

“This certainly goes against our standard baggage handling procedures which dictate that gate-checked bags are to be hand carried down the ramp,” the statement reads.

“An investigation into this has been launched, and we will be in contact with our customer.”
