I am sure that you are receiving an enormous amount to email to your internet posting about what Pride means to your viewers, but I am also sure that you will not receive a response quite like mine. Here is my pride story.

For the past 10 years, my partner, Tim and I have had an on-going love affair with Canada. We fell in love with the complete package of what Canada offers, from the social compact of its citizens, to the adoption of same sex marriage. Canadians, we think, know that they have a real good thing going on being Canadians. And for this, they should be most proud. We believe in what Canada stands for so much that we started the process of becoming permanent residents. This process took us over three years to complete, but last June we became just that, permanent residents!

Our pride in achieving this dream goes beyond words. The friends we made and continue to make since we moved to Toronto are truly the most amazing people. Just like we expected - Canadians are warm, open, generous, thoughtful and most of all proud to be who they are and proud to live in this beautiful country. What is truly amazing to us is that the parade for pride encompasses all types of people: from mothers and fathers, lawyers, teachers, bankers, nudists, leather guys to just about every person from every walk of life. All Canadians celebrate the diversity of its people at pride. They take pride in being accepting of people who are different from each other.

We truly hope that you choose our story to be on the air. We would like to take the opportunity to thank Toronto and Canada for embracing us with open arms.

So, yes, we are proud.

Proud to be included in a community that truly supports its people, but most of all proud to be residents of Canada. This is a dream fulfilled.
