Disputing parking tickets just got a little easier.

The City of Toronto has introduced a new parking ticket dispute process that allows

those who receive tickets for pay-and-display or parking meter violations to dispute them electronically.

Previously, the parking ticket dispute process required vehicle owners to attend one of four parking ticket payment counters in person.

Now they can submit their ticket by fax or e-mail along with any supporting documentation such as a valid pay-and-display receipt. They will be advised in writing on whether their appeal has been accepted.

The process only applies to tickets issued for violations resulting from a broken or out of service parking meter or parking passes that have not been displayed properly or were printed incorrectly.

The city estimates that up to 40,000 ticket holders a year will be affected by the changes.
