Firefighters battle Annex blaze

Thirteen firetrucks and 50 firefighters were on the scene of a two-alarm fire in the Annex Thursday afternoon.

Toronto Fire Services said they received the call for the fire at Harbord Street and Lippincott Street shortly before 3 p.m.

The fire was located in a building behind the popular Pizza Gigi restaurant, firefighters said.

There is currently no information on any injuries or the cause of the fire.

Police officers injured in crash

Two Toronto police officers were injured after their cruiser was involved in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning.

The police car and another vehicle collided at Scarlett Road and Eglinton Avenue at about 8:15 a.m., police spokesman Const. Tony Vella told CP24.

Vella said the officers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One officer suffered a neck injury.

No other injuries were reported.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Fire crews battle house fire

Investigators are probing the cause of a house fire that broke out in Toronto's west end Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the two-alarm blaze in the 200 block of Glenholme Avenue, near Oakwood Avenue and St. Clair Avenue West, at about 7 a.m.

The house was under renovation and believed to be unoccupied.

Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution, as about 50 firefighters battled the blaze.
