Two charged in separate child porn investigations

Two Toronto men are facing charges after police found child pornography on their personal computers.

Members of the Toronto Police Services Sex Crimes Unit were executing a search warrant in the Allan Road and Lawrence Avenue area Friday when they found a collection of child abuse images.

Axel Schmitz, 68, was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of making available child pornography.

During the course of executing a separate search warrant in the Highway 401 and Jane Street area Friday police also arrested another man.

William Cormier, 51, is facing one count of possession of child pornography.

Police warn public following sexual assault

Toronto police are alerting the public after a woman was sexually assaulted in Willowdale.

According to police, the 29-year-old woman was walking in the Yonge Street and Olive Avenue area on July 21 at approximately 8:15 p.m. when she was approached from behind and assaulted.

The man is described as roughly 5'7" tall, with tanned skin and short black hair. He is thought to be about 35 years old.

He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants, with a black backpack.

T.O. man faces charges in assault investigation

A Toronto man faces five charges after a 23-year-old woman was stabbed in the city's west end Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the man stabbed the woman several times after getting into a dispute in the Albion Road and Armel Court area.

The woman suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Anh Tuan, 33, of Toronto faces five charges including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and forcible entry.

House fire

Toronto Fire Services are at the scene of a fire in the city's west end.

Police say a fire was first reported in the attic of a townhouse on Driftwood Avenue just before 11 a.m.

Police say the fire, located in a Toronto Housing complex in the Jane Street and Steeles Avenue area, is under control.

No one was injured in the blaze.
