A 20-year-old man is in serious condition after he was shot in North York early this morning.

The man was walking in the area of Eglinton and Keele Avenue when he was surrounded by a group of six people shortly after midnight.

According to police one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and shot the victim three times in the chest, the abdomen and the shin.

He was rushed to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

One of the suspects was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, while the other five are described as well dressed.

Police have not released a further description at this time.
