There's good news and bad news at the gas pumps.

First, the good news: the price of a litre of regular gasoline dropped an average of 3.3 cents overnight in the Greater Toronto Area.

Now, the bad news: motorists are still paying an average of $1.34 per litre.

By comparison, GTA gas stations were charging only – only? – 98.2 cents per litre a year ago.

There's even more good news, as more relief could be on the way.

Gas price watcher and former Liberal MP Dan McTeague said the price is expected to drop again Friday at midnight.

The price drop - largely due to the sliding price of crude oil - is being felt across Ontario.

Elsewhere, motorists in Ottawa are paying $1.29 per litre, while people in Thunder Bay in northern Ontario are being charged $1.39.
