TORONTO - The Toronto Raptors waived veteran forward Rasual Butler on Friday.

Butler signed as a free agent Dec. 10 and appeared 34 games, averaging 3.2 points and 1.9 rebounds in just over 13 minutes of action.

In 604 games with Miami, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Chicago, Toronto and the L.A. Clippers, the 10-year veteran averaged 8.2 points per game.

"This move allows us the option to look at other wing prospects down the stretch of the season while affording Rasual the opportunity to potentially sign with and help a playoff-bound team," Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo said in a statement.

The Raptors are in the midst of another disappointing season, sporting a 15-32 record heading into Friday's home game against the New York Knicks.
