Durham Regional Police are looking for two suspects after a violent home invasion in Pickering late Wednesday night.

At about 10:30 p.m., two armed suspects broke into a basement apartment on Sandhurst Crescent, near Finch Avenue and Altona Road, before assaulting a man and ransacking the place.

After the assault, the suspects fled with some cash and a cellphone, while the victim called his landlord, who notified police about the residential robbery.

The resident who was assaulted had to be treated for minor lacerations to the head, possibly due to being pistol-whipped.

Police told CP24 one of the suspects was armed with a gun, while the second was carrying a baseball bat.

No one has been arrested.

Police said the first male suspect is white with a tanned complexion and goatee, about 40 years old and five-foot-10 with a thin build. He was wearing dark-coloured clothing.

The second male is white, in his 20s and was wearing a dark-coloured coat.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2565 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
