Lloyd Robertson has almost seen it all during his more than 50 years in broadcasting.

Robertson, CTV News' chief anchor and senior editor, shared a lot of his memories when he dropped by CP24 for a special, hour-long interview Thursday.

The veteran newsman, who is set to retire Sept. 1 after decades in front of the camera, discussed everything from NDP Leader Jack Layton's death and the state of journalism in Canada to his coverage of the Sept. 11 terror attacks and his post-retirement plans.

Robertson joined CTV in 1976 and became the broadcaster's chief anchor in 1983.

Before his final day in the anchor's chair at CTV News, Robertson will be honoured with a special award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
