Less than one week after finishing one legal battle, Toronto’s mayor will learn his fate Monday in another matter.

“We look forward to the decision,” Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s press secretary George Christopoulos told CP24 via email on Thursday regarding the pending verdict in the conflict of interest case against the mayor.

In September, Ford was in court defending himself against allegations that he breached the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act when he made a speech and participated in a vote back in February to quash a recommendation that he repay donations he solicited for his football foundation using city letterhead.

If convicted, Ford faces the possibility of removal from office. He would also be barred from running for city council for seven years.

The lawsuit was launched by a Toronto resident one month after the vote in question.

Earlier this week, closing arguments wrapped up in the $6-million libel case against Ford.

Boardwalk Cafe owner George Foulidis claims that his reputation was sullied when Ford told the Toronto Sun that a deal to extend his restaurant’s lease of public land without entertaining other offers "stinks to high heaven.”

The interview was conducted with the Sun’s editorial board during Ford’s 2010 mayoral campaign.
