Steeles Avenue has been crowned Ontario’s worst road – again.

The title comes as the Canadian Automobile Association and the Ontario Road Builders’ Association releases its 2009 Top 20 Worst Roads list today.

A CAA spokesperson says they received the highest number of votes ever this year, and roads from the City of Toronto comprise almost half the list.

“Substandard roads and bridges increase the damage done to vehicles and costs to families and businesses,” Rob Bradford, executive director Ontario Road Builders’ Association said in a statement.

“Properly maintained roads and bridges also mean fewer injuries and deaths, reduced environmental impact, enhanced economic competitiveness and reduced life-cycle costs to taxpayers.”
