A 16-year-old boy is in hospital after an apparent drive-by-shooting in the city's west end Sunday afternoon.

It happened on Bernice Crescent near Scarlett Road and St. Clair Avenue at around 4:30 p.m.

According to police, two males were seen fleeing the scene in a white vehicle.

The crime scene is less than a kilometre from where 19-year-old Jaivoan Cromwell was fatally shot Thursday night, but police are not commenting on any possible link between the two incidents.

The victim's injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening.
