Hope you had your umbrella in hand Tuesday.

Toronto and much of southern Ontario was drenched with heavy rain Tuesday as a late November storm brought a record amount of rain to the city.

As of 7 p.m., 45.6 millimetres of rain had fallen at Toronto Pearson International Airport, almost doubling the old rainfall record for Nov. 29 of 20.2 millimetres set in 2005.

Police are urging motorists to be extra cautious, look out of pedestrians and give themselves extra travel time because rain-soaked roads are slick.

In addition to rain continuing overnight, Environment Canada is forecasting a high of 4 C for Toronto on Wednesday, with morning rain changing to wet snow before ending around noon.
