Drivers across the GTA were caught off-guard with a layer of snow that fell overnight, as police responded to dozens of accidents across the region last night.

About 10 centimetres of the white stuff fell on Toronto and surrounding areas, up from the five centimetres that Environment Canada had predicted to fall.

Some people failed to drive appropriately for the conditions. In one accident, a truck on the eastbound 401 ended up straddling a concrete barrier at Yonge Street.
