TORONTO - If a radio show interview between John Tory and George Smitherman is any indication, the race for Toronto's next mayor will be a scrappy one.

Tory invited Smitherman on his show where they quickly started fighting over the e-health scandal.

Tory told him the scandal will continue to dog him which got Smitherman firing back that Tory's track record will dog him.

He may have been referring to Tory's disastrous 2007 campaign promise as Conservative leader to extend funding to religious schools, or the humiliating byelection loss that led to his resignation last March.

Tory has not said whether he will run for mayor in next year's election.

Smitherman resigned from the provincial cabinet yesterday but will remain a Toronto MPP for a while still.
