Police and paramedics have been busy on Wednesday evening dealing with two separate incidents where pedestrians have been struck by vehicles.

In the first incident, a 17-year-old girl has been hit by a van at Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue before 7 p.m.

Police say the girl dashed into the street in front of the small commercial van and the driver didn't see her due to the light rain and darkness. She's been taken to Sunnybrook hospital and appears to have two broken legs, police say.

Meanwhile, another pedestrian has been struck by a TTC bus in North York.

The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. at Albion Road and Finch Avenue.

A man in his fifties was struck by a bus headed in the southbound direction. He suffered head injuries and has been taken to Sunnybrook hospital.
